PD 1185 Maximum Travel Distance to an Exit

Requirements for the Maximum Travel Distance to an Exit as provided in PD1185 FIre Code of the Philippines ([Rule III Sec. 3.4-3.16). .

Without automatic fire suppression system - 46 meters
With automatic fire suppression system - 61 meters

Exemptions:
Educational Occupancy
Child Day Care Centers
(a) ≤ 30.5 m (any room or intended as exit access)
(b) ≤ 45.8 m (any point in a room)
(c) ≤ 15.25 m (any point in a sleeping room)
(d) travel distance in (a) and (b) may be increased by 15.25 m when equipped with automatic fire suppression system

Institutional Occupancy
Hospital, Nursing Homes and Residential Custodial Care
(a) ≤ 30 m (any room or intended as exit access
(b) ≤ 46 m (any point in a room)
(c) ≤ 15 m (any point in a sleeping room)
(d) travel distance in (a) and (b) may be increased by 15 m when equipped with automatic fire suppression system

Residential Occupancy
Hotels – Maximum 30 m
Apartment Buildings – Maximum of 31 m from entrance door or 46.5 m when protected by automatic suppression system
Dormitories – Maximum of 30.48 m or 46 m when protected by automatic suppression system

Special Purpose Industrial Occupancy and Storage Occupancy
Maximum of 23 m

Business Occupancy
Maximum of 91.5 m when protected by automatic suppression system

Mercantile Occupancy
Maximum of 30.5 m or 46 m when protected by automatic suppression system
